Author's note: I am a new owner of an Aquascape installation. It's the most beautiful water feature I have ever owned. I had built my own pond at the house last year and it was nice, but the Aquascape installation brings lots of features I never even thought of. So, as a new owner, I will be adding to this list of "reasons" fairly regularly until I've thought of them all. <grinning>

  • The waterfall makes the most soothing sound in my yard.
  • The pond seems to emerge from a natural outcropping of rocks and isn't just a "rock-ring".
  • The presence of plants makes the pond look more natural and the plants are enjoyable to watch grow.
  • The water stays very clear.
  • Maintenence is very simple, I empty a leaf basket and occasionally do a water change.
  • 12/2003 - The pond is a better home to frogs and other wildlife than sterile boxes of water which I've used and enjoyed formerly.
  • 1/2004 - The pond can be [is usually] constructed with carbonate rich rocks and gravel, essentially eliminating the incidence of pH Crash.
  • 9/16/2004 - Hach test kit - Hydrogen sulfide testing before and after disrupting the gravel and stirring the plant pockets resulted in NO hydrogen sulfide.
