Hydrogen Sulfide in Aquascape Ponds. We tested for it and found none. Our test pond is a nice 11x14 pond properly maintained, well stocked with Koi and plants. We tested the pond after ten months of heavy use and then stirred up the pond and plant pockets. No Hydrogen Sulfide.

Waterchanges in the Aquascape Pond. They're important to keep nitrogen from accumulating in the pond and to keep fish and plants healthy. Finding a Good Installer. I'm worried that someone's going to visit with me on this site, or go to my blog and get the idea that all Aquascapes ponds are just great. They're going to assume all Aquascape installers are created equal. And it's not so. There's some real hacks out there. I recommend, again and again, that you solicit the accountability of a CERTIFIED Aquascape installer. Then you have a bona fide relationship with both the company and the installer who is accountable to the company.

The Three Problems With Gravel (Filtrated) Ponds. Of course there's no perfect media for Koi ponds and water gardens, and while extolling all the reasons I like gravel and Aquascape ponds, there are three downsides.

Ways I'd Improve An Aquascape Pond - The Fictitious "Erik Johnson" Signature Edition Aquascape Koi Pond. There are those who would shudder to recognize an Aquascape pond as a true Koi pond. Most people are happy to think of this equipment [and technique] as a purely water garden experience. But this would not be accurate if, in the interest of building a real Koi pond, the Aquascape was modified thusly.
