Aquascape ponds are perhaps the most consistently beautiful and functional ponds built in America. After much research, many home owners decide on Aquascape ponds for their attractiveness, price, and simplicity. Are they perfect ponds? No. This web site is created by Dr. Erik Johnson, to ensure realistic expectations and maximum success with your Aquascape experience and is totally unauthorized.

Frequently Asked Questions
You can read the answers to some of the questions on alot of people's minds.

Before You Dig Your Pond
If I could, could we please spend a minute discussing a few things BEFORE you cut ground for the pond? I think these items might be helpful. Precautions, caveats, and important thoughts.

PondInstallers.com
One of the ways to get a pond "on par" with the one they built for me is to choose a certified installer. You should be aware, anyone can install and Aquascape pond. But the company holds their certified installers ACCOUNTABLE. Go certified!

Aquascapes "Hot Topics"
Maybe we should say "Heated" because these are the areas where people get "hot" philosophically...No system is perfect.

Aquascape Tips and Tricks

Why the Gravel Debate Might Not Matter

The gravel debate does not pertain to you if:

  • If you clean the pond according to the standard Aquascape recommendations and disturb your gravel seasonally, you will not face Hydrogen Sulfide issues.
  • If you do not have more than two inches of gravel in the pond, you are conservative in your feeding habits and you occasion a water change from time to time, you will not have a Hydrogen Sulfide issue in the pond.
  • If you divide, disturb or oxygenate the root ball of potted plants at least annually, you will not experience Hydrogen Sulfide issues in the pond from these sources.
  • If you do not keep fish in your pond, you will never have to consider the production of noxious gases in your pond. This would be true of any pond.

The above are bold assertions which will be tested in the KoiLab Aquascape installation as well as some field work sending Hydrogen Sulfide test kits to "regular" owners of ponds in North America. If you would like to participate, contact us at KoiLab.com
